We’d be hard-pressed to disagree, but we’d add a few items to that list. Namely effortless handling, blisteringly fast engines and some of the industry’s most advanced driver-assistance technology.
These are cars for people who love driving: lovingly crafted by some of the best engineers in the world. The AMG GT 63 S is a prime example. First introduced, it’s a super car masquerading as a four door sedan, delivering 631bhp and 627lb ft of torque from 2,500 to 4,500rpm. It’s also packed with incredible gadgets and enough seats for a small family which is certainly a first.
The 2015 SLS AMG GT is another example of Mercedes’ engineering prowess; drawing on the brand’s racing heritage to deliver 583 bhp and a nail-biting 0-60 time of 3.7 seconds.
But it’s not all about the big, showy headliners. So-called everyday drivers like the A 250 provide phenomenal power and a luxurious ride at the same price point as your average hot hatch and the four-cylinder 2.1-litre CDI diesel Sprinter is widely regarded as one of the most drivable vans on today’s market.

Mercedes do a relatively good job of tuning their cars, but they’re the world’s largest luxury automaker, which means that they sell cars that have to drive equally well in Germany, the UK, the US, China, India, Vietnam and South Korea.

As an example, the e320 and c320 have the same 3.2 L V-shaped engine, but the c320 provides an extra 14 bhp.
